Exhibit Dates: June 13 – August 16, 2014
The Bay County, Florida Democratic Party and Democratic Women’s Club of Bay County are co-sponsoring this spectacular exhibit at the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida.
This exhibition of Stanley Tretick’s photographs includes some of the most memorable images of America’s Camelot and evokes the historical context in which it emerged. His photographs of the Kennedys, published in Life and Look from 1960 to 1964, helped define the American family of the early-sixties and lent Kennedy an endearing credibility that greatly contributed to his popularity. As a group, these pictures help us to understand the construction of the Kennedy myth, one that remains intact to this day.
This powerful exhibit features over sixty vintage photographic prints by Stanley Tretick, a collection of his Life and Look Magazine covers, and a special selection of Florida related images by Tretick.
Stanley Tretick (1921 – 1999) was an American photojournalist who worked for UPI, People, Life and Look Magazines. He covered every president from Harry Truman to George H. W. Bush.
